MusicNomad MN100 guitar cleaner spray bottle

The short version

The important distinction in guitar care is between cleaning and polishing. A cleaner lifts fingerprints and dust off the surface; a polish contains a mild abrasive that removes a microscopic layer of finish to restore gloss. On a matte or satin instrument a polish is actively destructive, because burnishing a satin finish turns it shiny in patches. This is a cleaner only, it is safe on nitrocellulose - which household cleaners will craze - and it is anti-static, so it repels the dust it just removed.

What it gets right

  • Safe on every common finish including nitrocellulose
  • Contains no abrasive, so it cannot burnish a satin finish
  • Anti-static, which measurably slows how fast dust returns
  • Works on hardware, pickups and pickguards as well as the body

Where it gives ground

  • Cleans only: it will not restore shine to a dulled gloss finish
  • 4 oz is a small bottle for the price
  • Needs a separate microfibre cloth, which is not included

What owners report

Patterns drawn from published owner reviews. Summarised, never quoted.

What comes up most

  • Being safe on satin and nitro finishes is the reason owners cite most
  • The streak-free result is very consistently reported
  • Widely recommended by repair shops, which owners mention

Frequent complaints

  • Bottle size relative to price is the main complaint
  • Some owners expect it to polish and are disappointed that it does not
  • A minority report the spray head clogging

Recognised strengths

  • Formulated for one job and clear about what that job is

Recognised weaknesses

  • It is the least dramatic product in the range, by design

The verdict

The right first bottle for almost anyone, because it is the one product that cannot damage anything on the instrument: matte, satin, gloss, nitro, hardware, pickguard, all fine. If your guitar simply needs the fingerprints taken off after a session, this is what you want and nothing else is needed. What it will not do is restore shine to a dull gloss finish or fill swirl marks, because it contains nothing abrasive - that is a polish's job, and on a satin guitar you should not want it.
