The short version
Two unusual things are happening here. The first is torrefaction: the Sitka spruce top has been heat-treated in a low-oxygen kiln, which drives out moisture and crystallises the resins so the wood behaves like a top that has already been played for decades. Cort calls it Aged-to-Vintage, and the audible result is a top that is stiffer, drier and more responsive from day one rather than after ten years. The second is bocote, a Central American timber Cort uses instead of rosewood: warm and deep in the bass with a broad midrange and long sustain, and visually striking in a way rosewood rarely is. Hand-scalloped X-bracing, macassar ebony for both fingerboard and bridge, and a Fishman Flex Blend system that mixes an undersaddle pickup with an internal microphone.

The good and the bad
What we like
- Torrefied top delivers aged, broken-in responsiveness from new
- Solid bocote back and sides give a rosewood-like depth with a distinct voice
- Fishman Flex Blend mixes pickup and internal mic, avoiding piezo brittleness
- Macassar ebony fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, hand-scalloped bracing
What we do not
- Ships with a premium gig bag rather than a hard case
- Almost no published owner reviews yet
- Bocote is unfamiliar enough that resale value is hard to predict

What owners and reviewers report
Patterns we found across published reviews and owner feedback. These are summaries of recurring themes — we do not reproduce or invent individual testimonials.
What comes up most
- Too few published owner reviews to establish a reliable pattern
Frequent complaints
- Too few published owner reviews to establish a reliable pattern
Recognised strengths
- The torrefied top and all-solid bocote construction are specifications normally found on considerably more expensive instruments
Recognised weaknesses
- Owner feedback volume is too low to judge unit-to-unit consistency
The verdict
This is where Cort stops being the value brand and starts competing on merit. The torrefied top is the specification that justifies the price — it is the difference between an instrument that will sound good eventually and one that sounds finished now — and bocote gives it a voice that is genuinely its own rather than a rosewood impression. The Flex Blend is the right electronics for a guitar at this level, since blending a mic with the piezo removes the brittle quack that undersaddle pickups alone produce. Two caveats: it ships with a premium gig bag rather than a hard case, which at this money is mean, and there is almost no published owner feedback. Note also that Cort sells a mahogany-backed Gold-OC6 alongside this one; the bocote is the model on this listing.

Strings for this guitar
All stringsIt ships with Elixir Phosphor Bronze Nanoweb Light (.012-.053). Staying at that gauge keeps the setup and the neck relief as the factory left them; going a step lighter makes bending easier, a step heavier gives more volume and tension. Anything more than one step either way usually needs the truss rod and the intonation adjusted.
